BRAND IDENTITY & ANIMATION DESIGN

Greetings from the grasslands

A multicultural mini-video series

The Grassy Plains Network (GPN) advocates for better grassland protection in Melbourne.

I collaborated with Andrew Robb Films, and The Friends of Kororoit Creek to produce 4 videos for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to raise awareness and encourage local participation in protecting grasslands.

These videos feature live-action and animations in 6 languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Karen, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

A logo and style guide were developed for consistent branding across videos, social media, websites, and postcards, inspired by golden wildflower meadows.

The typefaces chosen include a sans serif for translations and a mix of slab serif and brush script for accents. The animations feature collaged photos and line drawings over grassland footage.

Video 1 - "What is a grassland?"

Collage animations showcase native wildflowers in Melbourne's grasslands.

Video 2 - "Protect our grasslands"

Featuring animations of vintage drawings and hand drawn sketches.

Video 3 - "Why fire?"

This video explains why small fires are needed by some plants in the grasslands.

Video 4 - "Grasslands Country"

An Indigenous perspective.
